Jason Gervase, M.A.
Founder & Instructor
Born Deaf and raised by a Deaf mother in Arizona, I’ve been teaching American Sign Language since 2010 across community colleges in Maricopa County, the University of Arizona, the Siena School of Liberal Arts in Italy, and now ASL Pinnacle, which I founded in 2021.
My approach is voice-off, immersive, and rooted in authentic Deaf culture. ASL is my first language, my identity, and my passion. I’d love to share it with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do classes start?
You can conveniently view the start dates and times for all the upcoming sessions on the schedule page. Please feel free to check it out and register for the session that best fits your schedule.
Can I pick which course to start with?
If you’re new to ASL or have minimal experience, I recommend beginning with Level 1A to build a solid foundation. For those considering higher levels, I invite you to connect with me for a 15-minute assessment to determine the level that best aligns with your skills and goals. Book a time to meet with me via Zoom.
Will I get a certificate after taking a course?
Yes, upon successfully meeting the course completion criteria, you will be awarded a digital Certificate of Completion.
Can kids take your class?
ASL Pinnacle classes are designed for adults and teens ages 16 and older. The voice-off, immersive teaching approach and pacing are best suited for this age range.
What does a typical class look like?
Classes are held entirely online via Zoom using a voice-off, immersive approach. Each 2-hour session includes a 10-minute break. Your camera must be on so you can fully engage with the visual nature of ASL, and we communicate only in ASL throughout the class.
What equipment do I need?
You’ll need a laptop or computer with a webcam (phones and tablets aren’t recommended as they limit visibility). You’ll also need Zoom installed and a quiet, well-lit space where you can be seen clearly from the waist up.
