ASL Pinnacle LLC ("ASL Pinnacle," "we," "us," "our") operates www.aslpinnacle.com and provides online ASL courses, tutoring, and webinars.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.
We are a Delaware limited liability company with a business address at 5013 S. Louise Avenue, Suite 1507, Sioux Falls, SD 57108, United States. For the purposes of data protection law, ASL Pinnacle LLC is the controller of your personal information.

1. WHO THIS POLICY COVERS
This policy applies to students, prospective students, tutoring clients, webinar registrants, newsletter subscribers, and visitors to our Site.
You must be at least 16 to use our Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it. Where a student is 16 or 17, we also collect and process the contact information of the parent or guardian who accepts our Terms on their behalf.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

2.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our providers automatically collect: IP address, browser type and version, operating system and device type, pages viewed and time spent, referring URL, and general location inferred from IP address (typically city or region level). This is collected through server logs, cookies, and Google Analytics.
2.3 Information from third parties
We receive transaction confirmations and limited billing details from Stripe. If you join our optional Discord community, Discord collects your information directly under its own policies; we see only what is visible to a server administrator, such as your Discord username and messages posted in the server.
2.4 Sensitive information
We do not ask for information about your health, audiological status, or disability, and you are not required to provide it. Some students choose to share such information — for example when requesting an accommodation, or in the ordinary course of a class about Deaf culture. If you do, we treat it as confidential, use it only for the purpose you shared it, and do not disclose it to other students or third parties without your permission.
Video recordings in which you appear may reveal information about you, including your appearance and how you sign. We only record you with your prior written consent, given through a separate release form, and never as a condition of participating. Recordings made through Zoom are stored on Zoom's servers and on our own storage, and are subject to the retention periods in Section 7.
3. WHY WE USE YOUR INFORMATION, AND OUR LEGAL BASIS
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies to you, the "legal basis" column states our lawful basis for processing.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are overridden by your rights, and we have concluded that they are not. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests — see Section 8.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your coursework or submissions to train artificial intelligence systems.
4. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS
4.1 Cookies we use
- Strictly necessary cookies. Keep you logged in, remember cart contents, secure form submissions, and maintain your session. The Site cannot function without these.
- Preference cookies. Remember settings you choose.
- Analytics cookies. Google Analytics, used to understand traffic and how students move through the Site. These are only set with your consent.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and through the consent banner on the Site. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the Site.
4.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC. It collects information about your visit, including a pseudonymous identifier, and processes it on Google's infrastructure, which includes servers in the United States. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
4.3 Do Not Track
Browsers send Do Not Track signals inconsistently and there is no agreed standard for honoring them. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. Use the consent banner or the opt-out above instead.
5. WHO WE SHARE INFORMATION WITH
We share personal information only with the following categories of recipient, and only as needed.

Each provider is bound to use your information only to provide services to us.
5.2 Optional third-party services
If you choose to join our Discord server, Discord Inc. acts as an independent controller of the information it collects from you, under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not control Discord's practices. Participation is entirely optional.
The same applies to other optional third-party services we link to:
- PayPal, if you make a donation. PayPal collects your payment information directly and we receive only the donation record.
- Zazzle, if you buy merchandise from our store. Zazzle is a separate company that handles the order, payment, and shipping under its own terms; we receive no payment or address details from those purchases.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any of these services before using it.
5.3 Instructors and tutors
Instruction is currently delivered by our founder. Where we engage additional instructors, tutors, or contractors, they access student names, coursework, and progress records only as necessary to teach and assess, and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
5.4 Other students
Your name, and any content you post or submit in a shared class space, is visible to other students in that space. In paired and group tutoring, the other participants will see your name, your face and signing on video, and anything you share during the session. Do not post or share anything in a class or group session that you would not want other students to see.
5.5 Legal and business transfers
We may disclose information where required by law, court order, or valid legal process; where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; to protect the rights, safety, or property of ASL Pinnacle, our students, or others; and in connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of our business, including transfer to a successor or affiliated entity, in which case we will notify you.
6. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
We are established in the United States and our providers are primarily located in the United States. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which does not have a data protection regime that the European Commission has found to be generally equivalent to the GDPR.
Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, which may include Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and, where applicable, the provider's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by contacting us.
7. HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION

After these periods we delete the information or irreversibly anonymize it.
8. YOUR RIGHTS
8.1 Everyone
You may ask us at any time to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your information, subject to our need to keep records for legal, tax, or dispute purposes;
- stop sending you marketing email — you can also click "unsubscribe" in any marketing message;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave, including consent to appear in a recording.
Email contact@aslpinnacle.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
8.2 If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland
In addition to the above, you have the right to: restrict our processing in certain circumstances; object to processing based on our legitimate interests; receive your information in a portable, machine-readable format; and not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing with legal or similarly significant effects. We do not carry out automated decision-making of that kind.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
8.3 If you are a California resident
Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion; to request correction; and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
The categories of personal information we have collected in the past twelve months are identifiers, customer records, commercial information, internet activity, geolocation inferred from IP address, audio and visual information (where you have consented to recording), professional or education information, and inferences drawn from the above. The sources, purposes, and recipients are described in Sections 2, 3, and 5.
8.4 Other US states
If you reside in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, or Montana, you have similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising and sale — neither of which we engage in. You may also appeal a decision we make on your request by replying to our response.
9. SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed password storage, access controls limiting staff and instructor access to what they need, and managed hosting with regular updates and backups.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for using a strong, unique password.
If a breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify you and any applicable regulator as required by law.
10. YOUR CHOICES
- Marketing. Unsubscribe from any marketing email, or contact us. We will still send service messages about your enrollment, which are necessary and not optional while you are enrolled.
- Cookies. Use the consent banner or your browser settings.
- Recording. Decline the release form. It will not affect your participation, grade, or access in any way.
- Discord. Do not join. Nothing in your coursework depends on it.
- Account deletion. Contact us. We will delete what we are not required to retain and tell you what we must keep and why.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Policy. We will post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date. If the changes are material, we will notify enrolled students by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
